Chronic wounds pose a significant challenge in healthcare, impacting the lives of over 450,000 Australians annually. Recognising the urgency of this issue, the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is proud to announce scholarship opportunities tailored for nurses and Aboriginal Health Workers keen on specialising in wound care.

Why Specialise in Wound Care?

Wound care demands specialised knowledge and skills to manage effectively. By acquiring expertise in this area, health professionals can substantially enhance healing processes, mitigate complications, and profoundly impact patient care.

Available Scholarships

Advanced Training Short Courses: Up to 300 scholarships are offered annually to nurses seeking to enhance their practical skills in wound care. There are a range of recognised wound management short courses which are eligible for the scholarships. Among these, ACN’s specialised short courses include:

Single Unit of Study in Wound Management: This course provides an in-depth look into the anatomy and physiology of the skin, mechanisms of wound healing, comprehensive wound assessment, and management techniques.

Two-day Face-to-Face CPD Course: This interactive session covers essential updates in wound care, including anatomy, wound healing processes, and the latest strategies in wound management and hygiene.
Graduate Certificates in Wound Care: Up to 10 scholarships annually, providing deeper theoretical and practical knowledge in wound care management.

Masters of Wound Care: 1 prestigious scholarship for those seeking leadership in wound care education or clinical practice.

Available Courses

The Wounds Australia website has information on a range of courses which would be eligible. We are also open to hearing from you if you have identified a course you would like to do, to check if it is eligible.
