Job Description

 

Dermatology Nurse (Medical, Surgical & Cosmetic), DIV 1 RN or DIV 2 EN

We are looking for 1 part-time nurse to join our friendly specialist dermatology clinic in Fitzroy North. This is an opportunity to work closely with our dermatologists, learning about all aspects of medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. This rare position has became available because we have expanded our Specialist team.

Days required:

Wednesday 8am – 5:30pm (dependent on week)

The Role

Assistance and support for patients
Preparation for and assistance with minor surgical procedures
Post operative wound care
Patient communication and follow-up
Assistance with cosmetic injectables performed by our dermatologist
Instrument sterilisation
Medical supply management
Photography

Essential requirement

Someone with a caring empathetic nature, excellent communication skills, who can manage time well and work under pressure.
Experience with post operative wound management
Current registration with APHRA
Registered nurse

Desirable skill set:

Experience with some of the following are desirable, but not essential:

Local anaesthetic administration skills
Private practice experience in a dermatology, plastic surgery practice, skin cancer clinic or similar
Experience with assisting cosmetic injectables
Laser/aesthetic dermatology experience

Job Description

Situated within the picturesque Noosa Junction precinct, the new Beachside Specialist Group offers a wide array of dermatological services, covering general medical, surgical, acne treatment, skin cancer checks, and cosmetic solutions.

Currently, we’re on the lookout for a seasoned, enthusiastic, and caring registered nurse to join our team. While prior experience is valued, we’re eager to train the right person who exhibits dedication and passion. This role presents an exciting opportunity for professional growth within our forward-thinking practice, providing exposure to a diverse range of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatological procedures.

Responsibilities for this role encompass:
• Delivering safe, comprehensive, and effective nursing care.
• Assisting practitioners during skin treatments, including blood draw and PRP therapy preparation.
• Administering Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) under practitioner guidance.
• Participating in skin checks and providing practitioner support.
• Assisting in various surgical procedures with a focus on patient comfort and safety.
• Applying dressings and providing follow-up wound care.
• Communicating patient results post-procedures and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Sterilising instruments and managing medical supplies to uphold clinic standards.
• Conducting precise and empathetic triage and patient assessments.
• Capturing photography for documentation and treatment planning.
• Educating and guiding patients through pre- and post-treatment care routines.
• Preparing patients for minor cosmetic and dermatological procedures.
• Undertaking administrative tasks to support clinic operations.

Key Requirements:
• Exceptional prioritisation skills and acute attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask effectively, demonstrate empathy, and communicate with clarity and compassion.
• Current nursing registration with Medical Endorsement from AHPRA.
• Willingness to undergo additional training as required to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Exemplary presentation and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Proficiency in medical software system Xestro an advantage.
• Previous experience in surgical and/or cosmetic procedures.
• Background in private practice within dermatology, plastic surgery, skin cancer clinics, or similar settings.
