About the hospital
Oxford Day Surgery is Class B accredited day hospital with 4 operating theatres providing Mohs Surgery, General Dermatology and Vasectomy services. All our patients walk in and out of theatre and whilst we have restricted patient numbers, the patients have multiple visits to surgery per day resulting in a fast paced but rewarding environment. With our NPS above 90, we are proud to deliver the highest standard in clinical and nursing care to patients an assisting them with their visit.

We are seeking to appoint suitable experienced Registered Nurses to join our team.

About the Role:
We have multiple opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses to join our fast paced Day Hospital at Mount Hawthorn. As part of this team, you will provide exceptional clinical and theatre support to patients in their journey with us in admission, recovery and multiple theatre visits in a fast passed environment focussing patient care. To be successful in this role you will:
• Current AHPRA registration
• Previous perioperative experience
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills,
• A progressive ‘can do’ attitude and an aptitude for taking initiative in a busy working environment
• A commitment to continuous quality improvement and best practice
• Knowledge of contemporary professional Standards and Legislation
• A collaborative and engaging team approach including the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.

Registered Nurse: Attending to the Practice of Dr Cara McDonald, Dermatologist

Job Description

Complete Skin Specialists in Sunbury, VIC has seeking exceptional applicants for a full-time Registered Nurse, preferably with experience in a Dermatology or Plastic Surgery clinical setting.

This demanding and rewarding position is the primary clinical support person in Dr Cara McDonald’s care team throughout her medical and cosmetic Dermatology practice with us. Dr Cara is the Co-Owner and Lead Dermatologist of Complete Skin Specialists and is one of Australia’s leading cosmetic injectors.

This full-time (76 hours per fortnight) position will accompany Dr McDonald throughout her normal days of practice as follows:

-Mondays: Sunbury
-Tuesdays: Alternating weekly between Richmond and Sunbury
-Wednesdays: Sunbury
-Thursdays: OFF
-Fridays: Sunbury
-Weekends: OFF

This position is focused on:

Supporting Dr McDonald throughout the practice with her consultations and procedures, ensuring that clinical activities and processes are performed effectively and efficiently. Duties including but not limited to:
-Triaging patient appointments
-Patient history taking and patient education
-Surgical assisting
-Wound and dressing management
-Patient photography
-Injection of local anesthetic/application topical anesthetic

-Photodynamic therapy
-Escorting patients into the consulting suites
-Observing and recording patient progress
-Ensuring treatment rooms and common patient areas are set up and cleaned to standard pre and post treatments
-Cleaning and sterilizing of instruments
-Assisting with stock ordering, inventory tracking and management
-Cleaning and restocking of clinical areas as required
-Ordering and unpacking supplies and equipment as required / supervised
-Performing administrative duties as directed by the Nurse Team Leader

For this role, clinical experience in a Dermatology or Plastic Surgery setting is preferred. Communication skills, patient rapport, and personality fit with Dr McDonald will also be considered.

About the role:

About you:

To be successful, your experience will have been gained in the Australian health sector, including:

  • Minimum of 3 years general nursing experience.
  • Either you would have experience in theatres with scout / scrub nursing or similar dermatology or outpatient clinics.
  • Ideally you would have an interest in working in the field of dermatology, experience in dermatology is not essential and training will be provided for the ideal candidate.
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Able to demonstrate The Skin Hospital values of United, Excellence, Integrity, Caring & Collaboration
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and work as part of a small team
