ADNA DERMATOLOGY POST GRADUATE PART SCHOLARSHIP

This award is to support an ADNA member to study the Post Graduate Course in Dermatology Nursing offered by ACN/ADNA.

The scholarship is proudly Supported by Janssen. The successful applicant must:

-Be an active financial member of ADNA for a minimum of 12 months

-Be a Registered Nurse (RN)

Be an Australian resident to receive government support via FEE-HELP (scholarship does not cover the full fee, please refer to the course for current fees)

-Please obtain consent of the person prior to nominating them. Please ensure all criteria are met.

– The applicant must submit an application letter stating why they should win the grant in no more than 50 words and provide 2 written letters of recommendation when applying for this fellowship award 

-Be willing to give a 10 min presentation regarding the course at the next ADNA annual conference either in person or via video link

-On completion of the course, Join the ADNA committee for a minimum 12 months. Either collaborate with your state representative or ADNA conference committee, to help bring together the events over the following 12 month. 

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee 

-Must apply by 22nd May 
-Enrol in the July 2023  intake. On proof of enrolment money will be transferred

Note: Top 3 finalists will need to provide a short video on how this opportunity will enhance your professional development and delivery of care to dermatology patients. 

Top 3 finalists must attend the ADNA annual conference for the presentation (finalist will be notified by the executive committee prior to the event).

EGO NURSES FELLOWSHIP

AUD$4,000

This is to assist Australian dermatology nurses to build their international contacts, to pursue continued professional development and establish networking opportunities with the BDNG or National Skin Cancer Centre Singapore. This Nurses Fellowship award is for $4,000.

The successful applicant for this fellowship award will be required to meet the following criteria:

-Be an active financial member of ADNA for at least 12 months.

– Have practiced in dermatology for at least 12 months and intend to continue to work in dermatology for at least the next 12 months.

– The applicant must submit an application letter and 1 written letter of recommendation when applying for this fellowship award.

Please obtain consent of the person prior to nominating them. Please ensure all criteria are met.

– A reflective article of the experience, collaboration and knowledge gained from the overseas interaction will need to be submitted to the Executive Committee of ADNA and will be published on the website. Or the applicant can give a 10 min presentation at their next state education day.

-On completion of the educational event, collaborate with your state representative or ADNA conference committee, to help bring together the next event over the following 12 month.

We would like the winner to transfer the knowledge they have gained from the experiences this award provides into practice here in Australia. It would be an expectation the winner will assist ADNA with liaising with our overseas dermatology associations and their prize winners at the next conference.

– Top 3 finalists must attend the EGO dinner at the annual conference for the presentation (finalist will be notified by the executive committee prior to the event)

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee

GALDERMA RESEARCH/ LITERATURE AWARD

AUD$1,500

To recognise quality research in dermatology nursing for the improvement of the dermatology patients’ care, and to recognise excellence in dermatology nursing literature written by an active ADNA member.

The applicant must be a financial ADNA member.

Nominations can be made by the applicant or another working colleague with written evidence of quality research and nursing literature.

Study and research within Australian tertiary education institutions ensures evidence-based best practice for the improvement of dermatology patients’ health and well-being. Utilising quality posters, reports, abstracts or Powerpoint presentations is also acceptable.

The winning submission and other finalists’ presentations will be displayed on the Sunday of the ADNA annual conference.

Top 2 finalists must attend the ADNA annual conference for the presentation (finalists will be notified by the executive committee prior to the event)

Please obtain permission from the individual ADNA member, prior to nomination. 

This literature/research will be published on the ADNA website. This award is for $1,500.

The Award funds are to be used for education/training or for research and can include registrations, travel and accommodation to dermatological meetings and congresses.

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee

ADNA USA/CANADA SCHOLARSHIP

AUD$3,000

This Scholarship is to recognise an active ADNA member to pursue continued professional development and establish networking opportunities with the Dermatology Nurses Association (DNA). This scholarship is for $3000.

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria.

– Be an active financial ADNA member for at least 1 year.

– Have practiced in dermatology for at least 12 months, and who intends to continue working in dermatology for the next 12 months.

– The applicant must submit an application letter and written letter of recommendation when applying for this award.

– Write a report or create a video of the conference and research relevant to dermatology nursing, within 3 months of the event, which is of suitable quality to the Executive Committee which will be published on the website. Or applicant can give a 10 min presentation at their next state education day.

– Applicants must use this scholarship award to attend a US or Canadian conference within one year.

-If applicants choose to use the award for study and research within Australia posters, reports, or Powerpoint need to show evidence-based best practice for the improvement of dermatology patients’ health and well-being. Utilising quality assessments is acceptable.

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee.

-On completion of the educational event, collaborate with your state representative or ADNA conference committee, to help bring together the next event over the following 12 month

ADNA NZ SCHOLARSHIP

AUD$1,500

This Scholarship is to recognise an active ADNA member to pursue continued professional development and establish networking opportunities with the New Zealand Dermatology Nurses Society (NZDNS). This scholarship is for $1,500

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria.

-Be an active financial ADNA member for at least 1 year.

– Have practiced in dermatology for at least 12 months, and who intends to continue working in dermatology for the next 12 months.

– The applicant must submit an application letter and written letter of recommendation when applying for this award.

– Write a reflection of your learning experiences or deliver a video conference report within 3 months of the conference, which is of suitable quality to the Executive Committee which will be published on the website. Or applicant can give a 10 min presentation at their next state education day.

-Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Committee.

-Applicants must use this scholarship award to attend a NZDNS conference within one years; if not used in that time the money must be returned to ADNA.

ADNA BERNADETTE MEYER MEMORIAL TRAVEL AWARD

AUD$750

This award was established in 2012 to recognise one of the founding members of ADNA who died tragically in a house fire. Bernadette Meyer was ADNA Secretary on the first ADNA Executive Committee in 1990.

This award is to assist a compassionate dermatology nurse who contributes to care and support of the dermatology patient, to be able to attend the ADNA National Conference.

Permission must be obtained from the applicant prior to nomination.

-The applicant must be an active financial ADNA member. Nominations can be made by the applicants or working colleagues with evidence of the nurses commitment and care to the dermatology patient.

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee.

A written reflection of your application of a best-practice guideline (ACD [Dermcoll], BDNG, Cochrane, DermNet NZ, JBI, Wounds Australia or published poster on the ADNA website) on your patient, documenting chronological assessments to show improvement or maintenance of their skin and / or psychosocial well-being.

This will be published on the ADNA website. This award is for $750.

ADNA ANNE SCHOTT CLINICAL PRACTICE AWARD

AUD$1,000

This award was established in 2012 to recognise one of the nurses who started ADNA in 1990, Anne Schott who was the first ADNA President.

This award is to recognise the ongoing commitment, dedication and contribution of patient care to the dermatology patient by a professional and dedicated dermatology nurse. This award is to assist in further education by attending the National Conference or an interstate Education Day.

-The applicant must be an active financial ADNA member.

-Nominations can be made by the applicants or working colleagues with evidence of the nurses commitment and care to the dermatology patient.

Please obtain permission from the individual ADNA member, prior to nomination

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee.

Recipient of this award is to provide a written reflection of skills in holistic assessment of your patient and their biopsychosocial needs through patient education, collaborating with their family and doctors, actively listening to what they see as their perceived needs and finding ways to implement best practice with what suits at home, thus showing improvement or maintenance of their skin and / or psychosocial well-being.

This reflection article is to be completed within 3 months. This will be published in the ADNA newsletter and website. This award is for $1000.

SUN PHARMA EXCELLENCE IN DERMATOLOGY NURSING AWARD

AUD$2,000

To recognise an individual ADNA member for outstanding contribution to the field of dermatology nursing. The contribution can be in regard to one or more of the following areas:

  • Enhancement of patient education or care
  • Advancing the quality use of medicines
  • Development of systems or procedures for the benefit of better quality services
  • Sharing of expertise or knowledge of a disease state or across a therapeutic area

Nominations can be made by the applicant, another ADNA member or a colleague that has witnessed the contribution first-hand, and will be adjudicated by the executive committee.
The nomination should give a brief outline of the contribution and the impact it has had.

-Top 2 finalists must attend the annual conference for the presentation (finalist will be notified by the executive committee prior to the event)

Please obtain permission from the individual ADNA member, prior to nomination

– Applicants cannot be a serving member of the ADNA Executive Committee
